A Letter from Secretary General
Dear distinguished delegates,
On behalf of the 2017 Ocean Model United Nations organizing team, it is my uttermost pleasure to welcome you all to attend our conference in this lovely city, Kaohsiung.
During OMUN 2016, we have overcome many severe obstacles and finally came into a success. Last time, there were two committees and around 180 delegates had participated in our conference. With the success of last conference, we followed our main subject “Eco-friendly” and the policy of our school, which is “Green University.” Thus, UNEP, the committee we continue this year, is the most vital one to our team. Besides, UNDP is the other committee this year. We would like our delegates to consider seriously what is happening in the world except for the chaos around the Middle East or the political wrestling among nations. Therefore, putting all these disputes away. Now, we should try thinking how we could prosper our world and make it even more better.
I started my MUN career since I was Freshman. In the next two years, besides participating in several MUN conferences in Taiwan, I also attended London International MUN and World MUN. Every single experience has inspired me a lot, and I have received plenty of knowledge from ever before. After serving as the USG of Marketing and Design for OMUN 2016, I was humbled and honored to return as the Secretary-General this year.
Consequently, I strongly recommend all of you to participate in OMUN 2017, which is held by a passionated team. I guarantee that you will have a fabulous and unforgettable experience from it. I am looking forward to seeing you all, distinguished delegates, in February.
Sincerely,
Eva Wu
Secretary General of OMUN 2017
Dear Delegates,
Let me start by welcoming you to Wenzao Ursuline University as tomorrow’s leaders. I am heartened to see such a large and passionate group of young adults engaged in global issues. Together, you represent the future of our world and certainly the future of Taiwan.
Ocean MUN is built on open minds and fresh ideas. Very important issues will be discussed during this unique gathering: sustainable of the oceans and marine resources, post-crisis environmental recovery, the Rights and relocation of indigenous people of Southeast Asia, and potential development of Arctic.
Such topics are important because, whether we want it or not, they all have the potential to influence our daily life and the future of our societies.
However, I am convinced that through constructive debate and an exchange of ideas, you will find solutions to problems. But please remember, that it will be when OMUN will be over that the real work begins.
Dear young leaders, I congratulate all of you for your commitment and efforts, and wish you all a most stimulating and constructive conference.
