Letter from USG of Academics

Dear Delegates,

        On behalf of the Department of Academics, I am here to welcome you to participate in Ocean Model United Nations 2017. After a year, each member of the OMUN organizing team has acquired better acknowledge of providing a marvelous MUN experience. For this reason, we are looking forward to having a wonderful experience with you in the upcoming conference.

        This year, the conference will provide two committees concentrated on issues that have raised heated debates among the world. These topics discuss environmental protection and social development from two different perspectives, which are topics we all agree that are very important to us, but we often ignore them. The first committee, the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), focuses on the topics not only about sustainable resources, but also about the recovery of environmental disasters. Regarding the “New Southbound Policy” that governments have promoted recently, the second committee, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), offers topics especially related to this policy and discusses the rights of the indigenous people from Southeast Asia. Our team has provided various latest topics for the delegates to choose from. Regardless of an experienced delegate or a first time MUNer, you can definitely find a topic that will fit you.

        It has been a distinct honor and pleasure to represent our team to welcome all of you to participate in the 2017 Ocean Model United Nations Conference. I guarantee that you will definitely have a wonderful MUN experience during the three-day activity. We are looking forward to seeing you in this February.
